On the occasion of World Cleanup Day 2026, Emergency Response and Awareness Foundation (ERAF) with NSS, University of Mumbai volunteers, organized a river cleaning drive on 20 September 2026 along the banks of the Mithi River in Aarey Forest, Mumbai.
The initiative brought together 120 NSS volunteers from Vidya Vikas College of Arts, KES Shroff College of Arts and Commerce; Ghanshyamdas Saraf College of Arts and Commerce, and Labhidevi Ramdhar Maheshwari Night College. The drive aimed to contribute to the cleanliness of the riverbank while creating greater awareness among young people about river pollution, responsible waste disposal and the importance of protecting urban ecosystems.
The event successfully combined environmental action with youth engagement and community participation. Beyond the immediate cleaning activity, the initiative sought to strengthen a culture of volunteerism and encourage students to take an active role in addressing local environmental concerns.
